COVID-19
Prevention Policies & Procedures
Before School
All friends must wash hands at the outdoor Sanitation Station (assisted by a parent) before entering the classroom.
Adults must wear masks during drop-off and pick-up times. Before the Pandemic, we welcomed parents into the classroom, but currently we ask that parents do quick drop-offs and pick-ups at the porch.
We understand that COVID-19 can take a few days to present symptoms and that they can vary widely, but we still perform daily temperature checks at the door for both the children and teachers!
During School
Teachers (and any adults in the premises) are required to wear masks in both the classroom and outdoor environments.
The children are welcome to wear masks, but are not required to. Even so, we practice the concepts of "physical distance" and personal space regularly throughout our day. (Pictured are "X's" we use as space markers outside of the bathroom.)
We wash our hands several times throughout the day: before + after meals, after sneezing, coughing, or touching our nose / mouth, etc. Each time we wash, we sing a song to ensure we're scrubbing for at least 20 seconds (our current favorites are ABC's and Happy Birthday).
After School
Teachers clean and disinfect surfaces throughout the day and perform a daily cleaning of the classroom space + materials after school. For the time being, we have switched from our preferred "Earth Friendly" cleaning products to products containing bleach and other disinfectant solutions.
Teachers (and all other adults in the household) abide by all the procedures we ask our kiddos to follow, including frequent and thorough hand washing and daily temperature checks including on weekends.
Teachers (and their families!) continue to strictly abide by all Santa Clara County Ordinances and Guidelines regarding COVID-19 Prevention. The safety of our Community is our top priority. Our families can rest assured knowing everyone their children come in contact with at Amistad Preschool will continue to practice Physical Distance at all times, wear a mask at all times while out of the house and continue to stay home by limiting outings to grocery trips + emergencies..
